ASA-IM (American Soybean Association – International Marketing)

The American Soybean Association – International Marketing is a non-profit, single commodity organization dedicated to develop the markets for U.S. soybeans and soybean products around the world on behalf of U.S. soybean producers and related industry. In the face of dynamically changing global soybean industry, U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC) was founded in October 2005 to continue the American Soybean Association’s long tradition of providing service and support to international markets.  Continuing to work as ASA-IM in overseas markets, representatives work in more than 80 countries based out of nine offices located strategically around the world. ASA-IM offices are located in China, Europe, India, Mexico, Japan South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan and Turkey.

  • Created by an Act of Congress in 1991
  • Collects 0.5% of sales price at the first point of purchase-this is a mandatory collection by the soybean producer
  • Funds research and promotional programs to increase demand and quality for U.S. soybeans including international marketing. USB provides funding to USSEC
  • Governed by a 68 grower-leader board, who are appointed by the Secretary of Agriculture
